If you plan to use financial aid, you must request an official SACE from the
Learning Abroad Center and submit it to the financial aid office. It
documents all eligible financial aid costs of your study abroad
program and is used to adjust your cost of attendance from University
of Minnesota costs to your study abroad program costs. A SACE may
increase or decrease your cost of attendance, depending on the program.
Note that you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit in order to obtain your SACE. For this reason, you are strongly encouraged to schedule a Financial Aid Preview Meeting before requesting a SACE. The Preview Meeting will give you a sense of how much financial
aid you are eligible for before financially committing to the program.
How to request
a SACE
- Find your program from the list below.
- Click on the link, which will include instructions specific to your program.
- In general, allow at least a week to obtain the SACE.
Exception for Scholarship-Only
Students
If you are only using scholarships
(and do not wish to receive loans or grants), check with the Office
of Student Finance or with the scholarship provider to inquire whether
you will need a SACE or other form of documentation of your cost
of attendance. In most cases, you will not need a SACE. Learning
Abroad Center scholarships do not require a SACE in order to access
the funds.
