The following is a list of scholarships that come from privately funded sources. Students are considered for these awards in addition to the Twin Cities Study Abroad Scholarships based on eligibility criteria.

Judee Kleffman Memorial Scholarship


One (1) award of $500 annually for spring semester

Eligibility: Open to all University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus undergraduate, degree-seeking students participating on a Minnesota Studies in International Development (MSID) program and/or SPAN.

Billman Family International Scholarship Fund


One (1) or more award(s) of $500 annually—preference given to global seminars

Eligibility: Open to College of Liberal Arts undergraduate and graduate students who are from the state of Minnesota and enrolled on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.

Learning Abroad Alumni Fund


One (1) or more award(s) of $500 annually for any of the following terms: fall semester, spring semester, academic year

Eligibility: Open to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who are enrolled on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus and will be participating in a Learning Abroad Center Sponsored Program.

Glen L. Hendricks International Study Fund


One (1) or more award(s) of $1,200 annually for fall or spring semester and $2,000 for academic year

Eligibility: Open to UofM undergraduate, graduate, and professional students studying at a tertiary institution abroad (i.e. direct enroll).

Angel Ruiz Lillo Friendship Scholarship


One (1) to two (2) awards annually for academic year/semester term ranging from $2,500—$5,000

Eligibility: Open to University of Minnesota students who are US citizens participating in programs to Spain who demonstrate extreme financial hardship. Check the eligible for financial aid box on the application form. If selected as a finalist, you will be asked to submit a copy of your Financial Aid Award Notification.

Joshua Haglund Memorial Peace Scholarship


One (1) award annually of $500

Eligibility: Open to University of Minnesota undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Preference given to students going to Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, India, or Costa Rica.
