Description
This practicum, available for two or three weeks, offers the opportunity for prospective teachers to complete an initial school placement, understand education and teaching from the educator's perspective, learn about curriculum as implemented in another society, experience the joy of guiding learning, and consider teaching as a career.
Curriculum
All courses demonstrate application of approaches to teaching and learning in the elementary grades under the guidance of a cooperating teacher and a University supervisor. Typical credits: 2 credits for two-week placement, 3 credits for three-week placement.
Estimated Cost
Students from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities participating on University of Minnesota-Morris programs are charged a program fee. The fee for this program can be used to assist in estimating cost and is available by contacting the University of Minnesota-Morris Center for International Program office. Eligibility and Application
Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the Foundations of Education major with a 2.5 GPA. The application deadline is March 1. All applications must be approved by the Learning Abroad Center.
Academic Fit with a University of Minnesota Degree Plan
With good academic planning this program can fit well into
the degree plans for many majors. Search for courses that fulfill Liberal Education
Requirements or submit a course you want to take for review.

The practicum is designed for Foundations of Education majors. Students are urged to choose the 3 credit, three week option.
