Application Checklist

Follow this checklist to apply for the program.

Apply for your passport   
Research Scholarship Possibilities  
Apply to the Outside Program through the host university or program sponsor
Upon acceptance by the Outside Program, submit materials listed below to the Learning Abroad Center by the Application Deadline

Print and submit the following pieces to the Learning Abroad Center (map):

Copies of these pieces should be handed in prior to departure (not needed at time of application):
  • Copy of Your Outside Program Acceptance Letter

  • Academic Planning Form pdf
    Signed by your academic adviser (except graduate students).

  • Photocopy of Power of Attorney Paperwork
For students using financial aid, submit both forms below to your program sponsor or university. The completed forms should be returned to the University of Minnesota Office of Student Finance (not to the Learning Abroad Center).

Application Deadlines
Submit complete applications to the Learning Abroad Center according to the appropriate deadline. You are not accepted or denied, we just need the information.

May Term April 01
Summer Term May 01

*If the deadline falls on a weekend, submit your materials on the following business day.

 

Next Steps

Expect an email within two weeks of submitting your application to the Learning Abroad Center.  The email will provide final instructions that may include registration information depending on when you have applied and if registration information is available at that time.

Program Fees
You are responsible for all program fees to your Outside Program provider or university. They will bill you directly.

Your University of Minnesota student account will be charged the $100 Learning Abroad Center administrative fee, which is NON-REFUNDABLE, as well as the international health insurance fee. See the CISI insurance form for details on cost.
